Online couples therapy · Florida & Pennsylvania

A shared life takes
more than getting through it.

The same fight. The growing distance. The feeling that you’re running a household but barely connecting. Couples counseling helps us understand what keeps happening and practice a different way of meeting each other.

Relationships & couples counseling

Couples counseling for conflict, connection, and life transitions

You can love each other and still keep missing each other. You bring different histories, expectations, and ways of handling stress. Add parenting, work, loss, or caregiving, and the conversation can turn into a fight before either of you feels understood.

01 / Communication

Getting past the same argument.

One of you pushes for a conversation; the other shuts down. Or both of you get louder and nothing gets resolved. We slow the sequence down, name what each person needs, and practice responding before the familiar fight takes over.

02 / Connection

Finding each other again.

Emotional distance, unmet needs, trust, intimacy, and feeling like you are managing a household more than sharing a life. Making space for both people to be understood.

03 / A changing life

Staying connected through change.

Parenthood, grief, career pressure, caregiving, and shifts in identity. Working through how new responsibilities change the relationship and what you need from each other now.

The relationship between you

There is a story beneath the disagreement.

Often, a conflict carries something more personal: wanting to matter, needing support, fearing rejection, or trying to protect yourself from another disappointment.

We look at what happens between you, rather than spending the session deciding who won the argument. That also means taking responsibility for hurtful behavior, making clearer requests, and learning how to repair when you get it wrong.

Couples work

Room for both
of your perspectives.

I use Gottman-informed tools alongside CBT and ACT to help you notice the loop, say what you mean, and listen without preparing your defense. We work on conflict and repair, but also friendship, intimacy, and the everyday ways you show each other that you matter.

My work is LGBTQ+ affirming and respects different relationship and family structures. We talk about your actual life: sharing the mental load, becoming parents, caring for someone, and finding connection when everyone is stretched thin.

For more on these overlapping pressures, explore the transition to fatherhood, grief counseling, and healthcare burnout support.

Individual relationship work

Your relationships can be part of your own therapy.

You can also come on your own to explore relationship patterns, boundaries, separation, dating, family dynamics, or the person you want to be in a partnership.

I am Andrew Richey, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. My approach is thoughtful, direct, and collaborative, with space for the difficult conversations and practical work of change.

Practical questions

Start with where you are.

Do we need to be in a crisis to come?

No. You may want help with a recurring pattern, a major transition, or feeling less connected. We will talk about what brings you in and what each of you hopes to work toward.

Can we work on the transition into parenthood?

Yes. Changes in roles, intimacy, work, responsibility, and identity can affect both partners. We can explore expectations, the division of responsibilities, and how to stay connected within this new season.

Can I come without my partner?

Yes. Individual therapy can address your experiences, patterns, and choices in relationships. We will discuss whether individual or couples work best fits what you are seeking.

Are sessions online? What are the rates?

I offer online therapy in Florida and Pennsylvania. Couples sessions are $160; individual sessions are $140. Insurance eligibility and coverage depend on the plan and service. We will clarify those details before you begin; couples coverage should not be assumed.

A place to begin

Make room for the conversation you need.

Start with the conversation you can’t seem to have, or the argument you’re both tired of repeating. We’ll go from there.
